This page explains what happens to your data when you visit Chronyas. We do not ask you to create an account and we do not ask you to sign in. Visitor statistics are only collected if you agree.
Cookies and local storage
Chronyas itself does not set cookies. Your browser keeps a few small settings of yours on your own device (the topics you chose to show on the timeline and your answer about visitor statistics); they never leave your computer. Cookies can still come from the third parties described below: Google Analytics if you agree to it, the advertising service and the affiliate partners.
Visitor statistics
If you agree, Chronyas uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It is not switched on until you choose OK in the small card shown on your first visit, and it runs with Google's advertising features turned off: the statistics are not linked to your Google account or used for ads. Google Analytics then sets its own cookies (named _ga) and Google receives your IP address and technical details of your visit. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings. More in Google’s privacy policy.
Hosting and fonts
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare receives your IP address and the usual technical details of each request, for security and delivery. The text is set in the Inter Tight typeface, which your browser loads from Google Fonts; Google receives your IP address when it does.
Advertising
Chronyas may show advertising served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners can use cookies and similar identifiers to show and measure ads, and, where you allow it, to personalise them. For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, a consent message from Google's own certified consent management platform (set up in AdSense under "Privacy & messaging") asks for your choice before any such cookie is used. You can change the choice later through the privacy and cookie settings that message provides.
You can learn more about how Google uses data in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services, and manage ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com. Ads are never placed over the timeline controls.
Affiliate links
Some pages link to partners, for example GetYourGuide for guided tours and tickets at sites you can visit. These links are marked as sponsored. If you follow one and buy, the partner may pay us a commission at no extra cost to you. The partner's own site may set cookies and process your data under its own privacy policy. Which links appear never depends on what the historical data says.
Your rights
Because Chronyas does not keep personal data of its own, there is normally nothing for us to give you, correct or delete. You can still ask us anything about privacy by writing to the address below, and you have the right to complain to your national data protection authority. In Portugal this is the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD).
Who is responsible
